And Now For Sports Announcements:
On Friday’s Softball game, Sleepy Hollow continued from the April 7 rain out...and continued to pummel Irvington with a final score of 21-6. Hannah McCarthy, Sara McCarthy and Cristal Alcantara each had multiple stolen bases and Johanna Cepeda had 3 RBI's. We saw great defense on the field from our shortstop, Gabby Delmonaco and our first base player, Whitneyfer Alejo. Nice job ladies! Our next game is Monday, 4/27 (that is today!) away at Irvington.
On Saturday, April 25th, the boys track team competed at the Gold Rush Invitational at Clarkstown South. Sprinters, Lenny Frasca, Jahmaali James, Diego Rodriguez and Jashon Sample all ran career best times in the 200m. Throwers, Aaron Cember and Jordan Brown placed 4th in the shot put. Aaron also threw a personal best in the discus with a throw of 105-5. Roger Bucci beat his best time in the 800 with a 2:12 effort, while Sebastian Kent ran 5:09 for the mile. Danny Elia placed 3rd in the 200m hurdles in 25.9. Matt Dorazio broke 18 feet in the long jump leaping 18-6 inches. In the most exciting race of the day, the boys 4x400m relay team placed 2nd overall. They ran 3:31.6 which is just 6/10 of a second off our school record that was set in 1978. Our next meet is Thursday, April 30th at home.
Congratulations to the Varsity Boys Lacrosse Team:
They had another big win at Nyack under the lights, Saturday night.
The 14 - 11 victory featured 5 ties and 3 lead changes. DANIEL YAWMAN tallied four goals and 2 assists, while ISAAC NEWLAND scored SEVEN goals. Once again, MICHAEL LOPEZ put on a clinic at the faceoff X, winning critical possessions when the game was on the line. The team looks to improve upon their winning record today at Clarkstown North.
