& now a summary of Friday’s game: The Boys Varsity soccer team won its home game against Keio Academy on Friday, September 25th with a final score was 2-0. It was a good performance by the Sleepy Hollow players. The first half was dominated by Sleepy but the boys could not capitalize on the many scoring opportunities they had. In the second half Sleepy continued to dominate from box and to box and in the middle of the second half finally put one in the net. Junior Michael Illescas put a shot on net which the Keio goalie saved but the rebound came rolling to senior captain Johhny Diaz who buried it in the back of the net. Later on in the second Sleepy were given a penalty kick due to a hand ball. Senior fullback and captain Toby Humm stepped up and scored to put Sleepy ahead and basically end the game. Junior goalkeeper Andrew Laub had his third shutout of the season and had an excellent game with 8 saves. Some standout players for Sleepy were Diaz, Humm, Illescas, senior striker Junior Arrevelo, senior fullback Vito Arpi, and junior central midfielder Ethan Willens. The next game for the boys is a home game against Blindbrook High School on Saturday, October 3rd, at 3:00. Hollow’s current record is 5-2-2. Go Hollow!!
