There are 305 million Americans. Twelve million
of them have food allergies. Over 3 million of
these people are under the age of 18. This means
that about 1 out of every 25 young people have
food allergies.
Eight foods cause 90 percent of the allergic reactions
in the United States. What do you think
these foods are? They are cow’s milk, peanuts,
eggs, fish, shellfish, wheat, soy, and tree nuts
(which are the nuts that grow on trees, such as almonds
and walnuts).
