Girls' field hockey senior game vs. Nanuet at 5:15 at high school football field. (10/19)
On Tuesday October 18th the girl’s varsity soccer team took on Lourdes in their final home game of the season. Seniors Caroline Kachnowski and Maya Carvahlo-Evans started out the attack for the horsemen and put pressure on early. LaVese Gilchrest started in goal for the horsemen ladies and controlled the tempo of the game early on. Her enthusiasm and communication helped keep the horsemen on the attack and organized. The senior center back duo of Hannah Derechin and Juliette Phillips kept the opponents at bay and stopped several good attempts at goal by Lourdes attacking players. Senior Central midfielder Maggie Cusanelli worked the ball from side to side and helped move the ball from the back line into the attacking half of the field. The team played with heart and dedication and really put on a show for the fans. A goal by Lourdes on a 40 yard shot left the score at 1-0 at half. Sleepy mounted a comeback and Maggie Cusanelli found her sister Emma in the second half with agreat through ball that led to a game tying goal. Come support the girls on Saturday as they play their opening playoff game. More details to follow.
