...and now a summary on sports…
On Saturday, October 15th, the girls varsity soccer team defeated league rivals Hen Hud 1-0 in overtime. Both teams played a very aggressive and physical game that was exciting to watch. The horsemen controlled possession of the ball for most of the game and are developing a style of play that is truly enjoyable to watch. Grace Hille recorded 8 saves in goal and recorded her 4th clean sheet this season. The horsemen ladies were missing several key players in Saturdays game, but the team rallied together and everyone showed real grit and determination, earning the win in the first overtime period. Senior LaVese Gilchrest set the tone all game working incredibly hard up front and motivating her teammates. With one minute to go in the first overtime period the horsemen forced a turnover in the middle of the field that lead to an early through ball from Maggie Cusanelli that spring Emily Rodriguez into space. Emily's pace was too much for the defenders and she breezed by them, finishing with a clinical strike into the bottom corner passed a skillfull Hen Hud keeper. Team defending lead by seniors Juliette Phillips and Hannah Derechin kept the opponents at bay and the horsemen pulled off the W. Their season record improves to 10-2-2. Come see them today, Monday, October 17th as they take on local rivals Irvington on the HS Turf at 4:15. The girls play again on Tuesday October 18th and will celebrate their senior day. Come support us as we continue to fight for a possible league title.
