Summary of Last Night’s game…
The Girls Varsity Soccer team defeated a very physical Beacon team on Thursday, September 22nd, under the lights at home. An incredibly placed through ball by Emma Cusanelli just after the opening whistle, found Grace Luft-Morgan in space, who beat two defenders and blasted the ball past the goalkeeper to give Hollow a 1-0 lead in the first two minutes. Just a few minutes later, pressure from the midfield and attacking lines forced a turnover deep in Beacons goal area. The ball found Emily Rodriguez in the box and she calmly placed it past the keeper to give the home team a 2-0 lead in the first 10 minutes. Team defense by every single player on the Sleepy Hollow roster kept Beacon to only 2 shots from inside 40 yards. Our team dominated possession, earning 6 corner kicks, and 20 shots on goal. After several unlucky misses, including a shot off the crossbar and being fouled on a breakaway, Emily Rodriguez found the net from distance, with a great strike that gave the Beacon keeper no chance at all. The game ended 3-0, improving the girl’s record to 6-2. Outstanding efforts all around were supported by Grace Hille in goal, who recorded a shutout and made two outstanding saves to keep Beacon off the scoreboard. Come support the girls today at Peekskill HS at 4:45, as they go for they look to move into a commanding first place position in their league.
