Attention members of the English Honor Society: We will have our first meeting of the year on Monday, October 24 after school in 311 West. All members are expected to attend this meeting. Please see Mrs. McChoi with questions or if you cannot attend.
Spectator’s bus for the Friday’s Football playoff game at Yorktown will be leaving at 5:30PM…it’s a $4 charge which includes admission. Permission slips are due today, we must have 25 people on the bus or it’s cancelled. You can hand in your permission slips to the main office or the athletic office.
The next VAASA club meeting is on Thursday, October 27th at 3:00PM in room 401 East! VAASA stands for Varsity Athletes against Substance Abuse. Any varsity athlete is welcome to attend the meeting and join the club. See Ms. Kutch for details.

Seniors please remind your counselors or teachers of the upcoming deadline for writing the college application recommendation letters. Any senior with a November 1st college application deadline must see their counselor or teacher by this Wednesday to make this request official, if you have not already done so.
Attention all High School students: If you are planning to interview for an intern position in SHADE, aka Sleepy Hollow Academy for Disability Education, the last interview is held Tuesday, Oct 25th at 3:15 in room 303 North. You only need to come to one of these days to interview. Interviews are done on a first come - first served basis. Returning interns need to come and interview as well. If you have questions about this amazing program, please see Ms. K. in room 303 north or look at the bulletin board in North Hall.

Underclass photos are scheduled for Oct. 20th and 21st from 8:30 - 3pm. You will be scheduled during your social studies classes. Portrait order forms will be distributed during your social studies class.

...and now a summary on sports…
The Boys Varsity soccer team won its game in the first round of the sectional playoffs against Walter Panas High School on Wednesday, October 19th with a score of 5-3. Sophomore Max Cover scored the first goal with an assist from senior Manuel Crespo. Minutes later Sleepy scored again when senior captain Diego Arias put one in the back of the net again assisted by Crespo. Sleepy then took a 3-0 lead when Junior Hugo Carpio buried a great shot which was assisted by Arias. The first was scored by sophomore Abubakar Mohammed which was assisted by Crespo again. The last goal was scored by sophomore Luca Brown which was assisted by Abubukar. Senior keeper Andrew Laub had a good game in net and finished with 5 saves. Some standout players for Sleepy were Crespo, Arias and midfielder Anthony Auguirre. The boys will be facing Lakeland High School in the second round of sectional play today, October 20th at 6 PM. Their current record is 8-5-4. Go Sleepy Hollow!!
On Wednesday, October 19th, the boys and girls XC teams competed in the League championships. Simon Geisker led the way for the Horsemen placing 6th overall. His brother Adam was right behind him in 16th placed. Kevin Kern and Jack Starkey were 18th and 21st respectively. All four runners received All-League honors for their efforts. James Buzaid and Louis Kudla received All-league Honorable Mention. The boys finished the season with a 10-2 record and placed 4th at this meet.
On the girls side, Virginia Rulhand-Mauhs led the girls with a 6th place finish. Katie Kudla, Asana Love and Amelia Gross were 7th, 9th and 13th overall. All four girls received All-League honors for their efforts. Jocelina Maita had a great finish to help the girls place 2nd overall in a very close race. Joceline received All-League Honorable Mention for her efforts. They also finished with a 10-2 record.
