And now for Sports…
The Boys Varsity soccer team drew its second game of the year against Ardsley High School on Tuesday, September 13th. The final score was 3-3. It was a mixed result for the Sleepy Hollow players. Sleepy did well with possession and controlled the pace in the attacking third of the game but struggled defensively. The first goal was scored by Ardsley and was the only goal score in the first half. Sleepy stepped up in the second half and scored the next two goals. Isaiah Issacson, Hollow’s leading goal scorer this season, scored first for Sleepy and was assisted by Hugo Carpio. Senior Manuel Crespo scored next to put Sleepy up 2-1in the second half by as he was assisted by Issacson. Ardsley tied it up and then Crespo had a brilliant individual goal to put Sleepy ahead. Ardsley was able to tie it up minutes later and the game went into sudden death overtime. Both teams had their chances but nobody could put the game away. Senior goalkeeper Andrew Laub recorded 5 saves. Some players who stood out for Hollow were senior fullback and Captain Ethan Wilens, and midfielders Carpio and senior Anthony Auguirre. The next game for the boys is a home game against Hastings High School on Saturday, September 17th. The boy’s current record is 2-1-2. Go Hollow!!
