And Now for Sports:
The Boys Varsity soccer team drew its game against county powerhouse Bronxville High School on Tuesday, September 16th. The final score was 1-1. It was an extremely physical game and was a great performance by the Sleepy Hollow players. The boys picked up the pace after a slow start to the game and were rewarded when senior captain Guillermo Maxi scored on a loose ball inside the 18 which the Bronxville keeper mishandled. Later on in the first half Bronxville tied the game up with a goal off a corner kick. In the second half senior goalkeeper Jose Deleg made another game saving save this season to keep Sleepy alive. The rest of the second half was played well by both teams with each team getting its share of scoring opportunities but could not capitalize on them and the game went to sudden death overtime. Sleepy played the majority of the overtime periods with 10 men as junior fullback Toby Humm was give his second yellow card of the game which resulted in an automatic red card. Both teams again had opportunities to end the game but to no avail. Senior goalkeeper Deleg had an excellent game and had 11 saves. Some standout players for Sleepy were Humm, senior captains Daniel Yawman and Dann Quezada, and senior midfielder Blas Ortiz. Sleepy’s current record is 1-2-3. The next game for the boys is an away game against Edgemont High School on Thursday, September 18th. Go Hollow!!
