The Warner Library in Tarrytown (directly across from C-Town) is having their book sale on October 18th and 19th. This is an opportunity to get community service hours…please sign up in the Main Office if you’re interested.
It's fall and time for the annual ESL Club hike and picnic. This Saturday, October 18, we will meet by the gym in the high school parking lot to walk on the aqueduct and enjoy the fall colors. Afterwards, we will picnic together at Douglaston Park. Please join us from 10:00 AM to noon. It's free, and all students in the middle school and high school are welcome. Very very important ski meeting, anybody who’s interested in possibly participating in a team must come today (10/14) at 3:05 PM for a short meeting right in the gym. This should not interfere with any afterschool activity.
On Friday October 10th, Sleepy Hollow's Varsity Field Hockey played Hastings for a home game. For eleven of Sleepy Hollow's players, this was their last home field hockey game as they celebrated their senior day. Freshman forward Gabby DelMonaco had 2 goals for the lady Horseman and Sarah McCarthy and Kali D'Agostinis each had an assist. Hastings was able to get 1 goal past Sleepy's defense, but Sleepy Hollow stayed strong and finished with a 2-1 win. Marissa Fortugno, goalie for Sleepy Hollow, had six saves. Varsity field hockey plays again away on Wednesday October 15th at Rye Neck high school.
The Boys Varsity Soccer team lost its game against local rival Ossining High School on Friday, October September 10th. The final score was 2-1. It was a very physical game and was a fantastic performance by the Sleepy Hollow players. Sleepy started off the scoring with an excellent corner kick taken by senior Blas Ortiz which junior Johnny Diaz headed in. Later on in the first half Sleepy was awarded a penalty kick but it was saved by the Ossining keeper. Ossining scored late in the first half to tie up the game. The second half was a defensive battle in which both teams had some scoring opportunities. Ossining was dubiously awarded a penalty kick which they converted. Sleepy had its chances throughout the second half but could not capitalize. Senior goalkeeper Joey Galasso had an excellent game and had 7 saves. Some standout players for Sleepy were Ortiz, junior Toby Humm, senior captains Daniel Yawman and Dann Quezada, and senior Evans Meireles. Sleepy’s current record stands at 3-7-3. The next game for the boys is a home game against West Lake High School on Monday, October 13th. Go Hollow!!
The Boys Varsity Soccer team won its game against West Lake High School on Monday, October 13th with a score of 2-0. It was a great performance by the Sleepy Hollow players. They dominated possession all game long. The score at the end of the first half was 2-0. Sophomore Manuel Crespo scored the first goal on an excellent cross from senior captain Daniel Yawman in the 6th minute of the game. The second goal was scored by junior Vito Arpi on a great pass from Crespo in the 31st minute. Sleepy had some other scoring chances in the first half but couldn’t put them away. Sleepy continued to dominate the game in the second half and again had many scoring chances but could not finish them. Halfway through the second half senior goalkeeper Joey Galasso made an excellent to maintain his shutout. Galasso had another fantastic game and finished with 6 saves. Some standout players for Sleepy were Crespo, junior Toby Humm, senior captain Dann Quezada, senior Blas Ortiz, and senior fullback Hunter Burnett. The record of the team currently stands at 4-7-3. The next game for the boys is an away game against John Jay-Cross River High School on Thursday, October 16th. Go Hollow!!
