So you’ve all heard of this little thing called the “Ice Bucket Challenge”… and another little thing called SHHS Spirit Week?...Well… we are combining them all for a good cause. This Friday, September 12th, we will have our own ice bucket challenge and it counts towards spirit week points! The class with the most participants will go into spirit week with 100 points, 2nd place with 75 and so on. All you need is $2, your own bucket and good old fashion bravery (and maybe a towel?) – we will provide the nice cold water.
We will be doing this on the softball field at 3:15 sharp – this Friday, September 12th. Oh and we are calling out 3 other schools – Ossining, Irvington and Sleepy Hollow Middle School.
And Now For Sports…
The Boys Varsity soccer team drew its game against Keio Academy on Wednesday, September 10th with a final score of 2-2. It was an extremely physical game and was a fantastic performance by the Sleepy Hollow players. The boys started off strong and were rewarded when sophomore midfielder Diego Arias scored off a great pass from junior fullback Toby Humm early in the first half. Later on in the first half Keio tied the game up with a goal off a direct kick that senior goalkeeper Jose Deleg could not handle. 10 Minutes later Keio took the lead to make it 2-1. The second half was played well by both teams with each team getting its share of scoring opportunities and Sleepy capitalized on one of them. Again the play was started by Humm as he sent a great pass to senior captain Dann Quezada who finished it off for his first goal of the season to tie the game up. The game went to sudden death overtime and both teams again had opportunities to end the game but to no avail. Senior goalkeeper Deleg had a great game and had 10 saves. Some standout players for Sleepy were Humm, Arias, captains Daniel Yawman and Quezada, junior fullbacks Vito Arpi and and Sebastian Kent, and seniors Blas Ortiz and Brendan Murphy. Sleepy’s current record is 1-1-2. The next game for the boys is a home game against sectional powerhouse Bronxville on Thursday, September 11th. Go Hollow!!
