Sports Announcement:
The Boys Varsity soccer team drew its first game of the year against local rival Irvington on Friday, August 29th . The final score was 1-1. It was a very physical game and was a good performance by the Sleepy Hollow players. The boys picked the pace after a slow start to the game and were rewarded when junior striker Toby Humm scored off a great pass from sophomore midfielder Diego Arias. Later on in the first half Irvington tied the game up with a goal off a corner kick. In the second half senior goalkeeper Jose Deleg made the save of the game to keep Sleepy alive. The rest of the second half was played well by both teams with each team getting its share of scoring opportunities but could not capitalize on them and the game went to sudden death overtime. Both teams again had opportunities to end the game but to no avail. Senior goalkeeper Deleg had an excellent game in his first game of the season and had 6 saves. Some standout players for Sleepy were Humm, Arias, and the three senior captains of Daniel Yawman, Dann Quezada, and Guillermo Maxi. The next game for the boys is a home game against West Lake High School on Tuesday, September 2nd. Go Hollow!!
