The Boys Varsity soccer team lost its game against West Lake High School on Saturday, October 12th with a score of 4-1. It was a very physical and hard fought game. West Lake scored the first goal 10 minutes into the contest as Sleepy was punished when they made some basic defending mistakes inside their own 18 yard box. Sleepy continued to apply pressure in the first half but were unlucky. In the second half West Lake scored two more goals early on. Sleepy had some great scoring chances throughout the rest of the half and were finally rewarded when junior striker Danny Elia crossed a ball to senior striker Demetri Boumis who put one in the net for Sleepy. Sleepy had many scoring opportunities but were unsuccessful in finishing their attempts. West Lake scored a fourth late in the game to end the contest. Some players who had outstanding games for Sleepy Hollow were junior fullback, and co-captain, Daniel Yawman, freshman midfielder Manuel Crespo, and junior midfielder Guillermo Maxi. Hollow’s current record is 6-6-1. The next game for the boys is an away game against Ardsley High School on Tuesday, October 15th. Go Hollow!!
